I’ve had my old boat for 4 years now, the first year it would stall going into gear after 30 or 40 minutes on the water. Replaced the lower shift cable and worked fine for 2 seasons. Only had it out twice last year but the same thing happened while tubing, would stall going into gear, had to get towed back to the dock. My question is should the lower shift cable have to be replaced frequently, every 2 or 3 years or should I be looking for something else?

Also started it this year for the first time, was running and idling fine for 15 min then suddenly stopped. Was hard to get started again but eventually did and it did the same thing, 10 or 15 min running then suddenly stop, no bad idle or sputtering just like the key was turned off. Maybe just bad gas but wondering if there are any other ideas?

Thanks for any advice

they last for years if kept dry, if not placed against an exaust system and get melted
