hey folks.. first time on water since i bought my boat.... took off like a bat out of hell, got up to about 35 mph after i tightened the shift linkage, but after i shut it off then took off again, i was only able to get to about 10 mph with the throttle lever all the way down... is this just a throttle cable adjustment, or something else??

Enshure that your butterflies are opening fully on your carbs, you may have put something out of adjustment or tightend something to much to allow something to move as it should. Also, look at where the shift and throttle cables enter the engine cowling, they have niches they fit into and should be secured, make sure they are where they are supposed to be.

Make sure you have spark to all 4 plugwires. An inductive timing light will show you the quality of spark to each wire.

And don't forget the easy stuff either....i.e. fuel flow. Is the bulb still hard? Is the vent all the way open?
