Hello,

I bought a pontoon last year and it has a 1976 Johnson Seahorse 25 H.P. It has ran flawless up intel the last week. When im going no matter how fast, it makes a loud clunk noise every so often almost like it stops getting gas and then drops back in. I noticed that this one part is rotted, but not sure if it would have anything to do with it. The only thing i changed was i put premium in the gas tank instead of regular. I have switched back to regular now and had not yet ran seafoam through it yet either. Thought about doing that because it say for 11 years without running. This is the part im looking for but can not find it anywhere. HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!

#65 on the diagram~

"Makes a loud clunking noise", like you hit something underwater? Jumps out of gear then back into gear?

Possible clutch dog and gears.

Check color of lu oil and if there is metal presenet.

Motor sat for 11 years w/o being run? Read the top Secret files at the top. You need way more than a carb part.

Its almost like the propeller spins and then catches. Where the pin drops in down in the propeller, it is worn out and cracked a little. I think that it has to do with the propeller being like that because it does not make the noise in neutral whatsoever. Sometimes it does not do it at all, which also makes me believe that it has to do with that. It actually sat in garage since 1998. I probably put 50hrs on the engine last summer and had virtually ZERO problems, except for shattering a pin in the propeller. It almost looks like someone tack welded a spot and lightly sanded it to hold the pin in that groove.

Are you referring to #54 (drive pin) in the diagram? Is the pin broken? Else its likely the clutch dog and possibly forward gear as previously stated.
