Water is squirting out the side of the engine through small hole cast in cover near mechanical Idle Speed Adjustment. Is this an indicator of something wrong with the motor. Thanks for your help

wish I could help,I have a merc700, but a 61, I am sure things have changed,mine doesnt have a thermostat,Hey try these guys http://www.pfs-ware.com then johns merc site then question answer page,They should be able to help you out! ps do you have a manual?

Thanks... No I don't a a manual specific to my motor. I did find out it is from a hole cast in the exhaust manifold and that there is some function with regards to the thermostat. But nothing definitive yet.
