Can anyone tell me how this motor rates in the among other engines in its class? Is it a strong engine ? are there still parts available? It has really low hours for its age approx 200 hrs.

thanks Cam

Ouch Bond-o. Your killing my self-confidence, bro ;)

OMC is outta' business, and the Stringer Stern Drives have been gone since the 80's. 77 is the last year for the Electric Shift ... which in the boating world knocks you down in social status to my level :D

IF the electric shift drive is working, they are actually very nice drive systems. I really (honestly) like mine. There is a lot of good about 'em. HOWEVER ... when they break (and it will) you are generally stuck being your own mechanic. Many marine techs won't touch 'em. You can get many parts for them, but there are some that are getting harder to find.

Bad part #2 - you can't repower to anything else (reasonably). The hole in the back of the boat is too big to accommodate any other drive system. You either stay OMC, regales the transom or buy a new boat.

I own one, and I like it. But if you haven't purchased this boat, I would recommend looking for something else.
