So, I was able to swing getting a 77 35 HP Johnson for free with a boat. Problem is, wiring was super Jerry rigged and I am fairly confident the guy had it all messed up. I replaced all of the wires however, I keep blowing the fuse every couple of starts. The wiring diagram had shown no ground coming from the starting solenoid. There is a ground going to the ignition switch however I have nowhere to route it to actually ground. Bottom line, I need better wiring diagram before I fry something. Any advice? Just want to get out on the water, PLEASE help!

Well----There is a short ground wire on the solenoid.-----It may have to go through a safety switch to ground.-------Be very careful with wiring as you do not want to apply 12 volts to anything like the powerpack / CD unit.

Google or do a search here on ibboats for a wiring diagram for that motor and remote,

I found both here about 12 yrs ago,
Fixed our fuse problem in about 5 seconds after that.
PO had put the starter earth wire on the wrong terminal.

Edit...forgot to say l still have the wiring diagrams and are still using them on a different motor

I appreciate the help! Hopefully I can figure out which post should be grounded on the solenoid.
