I bought a used boat this weekend, and have a couple of questions. The power trim motor has 3 wires, does the motor run in both directions? Also, I need a used motor. The one in the boat has a cracked cap.

HBF4, a lot of folks have problems with T/T motors, might be the mounting location. The tilt/trim motor must be electrically reversible to run the boat engine up and down. If it runs you might consider repairing the cap with an epoxy product designed for the motor cap material, tilt/trim motors don't come cheap, maybe someone here has a used one or check out ebay, I bought one there for my boat, new motor was $240 without the pump. It was 2 wire T/T motor and my boat was a 3 wire system, a few relays and diodes and away she goes. Good luck and happy Holidays.

My friend has a low temp rod that might be able to fix the crack. I'm going to try this, and see what happens.
