My 1977 Chrysler 90hp broke down on the water two weeks ago. The timing was off and when I slipped the distributer belt off I noticed the pulley under the flywheel was spinning freely. I pulled the flywheel with a steering wheel puller and found the pulley totally off the collar on the flywheel. Has anyone else seen this. Does that pulley press on the flywheel or do I need to find another flywheel? If it presses on does anyone know where I can find the part. Thanks for any advise, I don't know much about these outboards.

That pulley is cast in and once it slips you need a new flywheel. I have also seen where they break right where they join the flywheel. Do not even look for a NEW flywheel If they were available at all, they would cost around 800 bucks.

ANY flywheel From any three or four cylinder Chrysler with MOTOROLA or distributor ignition will swap in. Look from late 60s to 1977. You might be able to use a slightly later model but I don't remember what year they went to non-distributor ignition and changed the flywheel. If you see a photo and it looks the same, it will work Look on craigslist and ebay but I suspect that you will need to buy a whole junker engine just to use the flywheel

If you please, let us know your approximate location One of us MAY be able to help. If no luck, try THE CHRYSLER CREW They have a classified section.

Thanks for the info. I was really hoping that wasn't all one piece. I live in St. Louis, Mo. and if anyone can help me locate a flywheel or a junker engine please let me know (even if it is in a nearby state). Thanks again.

Thanks Frank, and you are right, franzmarine wants $225. I did locate one for $50 on The Chrysler Crew classifieds. Have to ship it from Ontario.
