Hello all, new guy here!
Received the boat below for free as the owner was trying to clean up the property.
It had sat uncovered since 2007 and had some interesting modifications made to it.
Trailer and Engine seem sound, the engine makes compression and I'll do a start-up test as soon as I can get ahold of a clamshell, fuel tank, and fuel line/pump.
The trailer has minor rust and some other slight issues that are easily fixed.
As for the boat -- decking is incredibly soft and all of the wood underneath the shell is rotted out. I suspect the stringers are worthless as well. The transom is also quite soft, previous owner supported with a length of angle iron rather than replacing it properly.
I'll be tearing it all out as gently as I can -- working on removing the shell now (as seen below). I intend to cut out the decking, replace or reinforce the stringers, wrap them in fiberglass, and put down new wood decking before covering that in fiberglass as well.
I'd like to have raised decks on this so it is a proper bass boat. I suspect judging from some of the seams and the way the contours are that someone has done either a full deck replacement or significant patchwork in the past.
I am completely new to boating and restoration as well so I am trying to take my time and do it properly. Any advice, suggestions are welcome!
Thank you!
