1977 crestliner nordic 22 Top Speed and other Misc?s Pics!!

I have just bought a 1977 crestliner nordic 22 in perfect shape and it runs like a top but it only goes about 25MPH It has a175hp V8 and the RPM only goe up to 3000!! I was expectin at least 40MPH is this a prop issue or a cabel issue or both ? also after the ingine has been runing for a while and is turned off if you try to start it right away it turs over very slow?? Also there is a red and silver knob with 1 1+2 2 on it nat the back of the boat i know this is for the batteries but it is not hooked up the batts are run in sieries is this a problem is that thing nessicary and if so how do you hook it up?? if any body has any info or pics of other similar boats i would love to see them. and would greatly appreciate any info or comments anyone has Thanks

There are a number of things that will cause low WOT rpm. Props, fuel sytem and carb. Also, weigh your boat and compare to mfg's weight specs,If she's water logged you're carrying a bunch of extra weight. Too much advance in your timing is one cause for slow cranking on restarts when you're up to temperature.

I have 2 props 1 is a14-16 i have never used the other is a 14.25-20, where is the fuel air adjustment

Hello guys Newbe here I was looking in sterndrive fourms and got this site from other crestliner nordic's in other fourms.I have a 79 norsman day cruser 20.there.haven't seen any norsman's any where.

First -- buy a service manual for the drive. While that statement may offend you, it will be the best money you can spend. If you don't want to buy one, visit you local library. They may not have the exact same year but close is better than no manual at all. If you have no idea where the carb mixture screws are -- that's a good thing because turning them has absolutely no effect on wide open throttle. Those are "idle" mixture screws and are set for best idle. High speed metering jets are fixed. If you are only getting 3000 rpm the first step is to perform a complete engine tune up including a compression check, complete ignition system service (points, condenser, distributor cap and rotor, coil, plugs and plug wires). Eliminate the points and condenser if this is an electronic ignition system. Then set dwell and timing (in that order) to spec. What's the spec? It's in the manual but probably 30 degrees dwell angle and 8 degrees BTDC. You need a dwell meter and a timing light. Since you want the engine running right and reliably, this is not throwing money away. It's insurance. You can then go after the other things like water soaked foam, wrong prop, or an outdrive that was swapped with the wrong gear ratio for the engine. See how helpful a service manual would be?
