Hi everybody!
I've got a new project! I'm starting a log to post on the progress and to ask questions. Alot of questions...

About me: I'm very DIY oriented and have the necessary tools. I'm a pipefitter/welder by trade and am fairly mechanically inclined. What I lack is experience in glass work and know-how.

The Boat: Its a 1977 22' Baja Sedan. It was powered by a OMC 235 that was removed last fall. The drive and motor dont appear to be in too bad of shape(the motor needs some TLC), but I dont want to dump time and money into a powerplant and drive that is long discontinued and hard to get parts for.
The transom and stringers are in great shape. I've drilled exploratory holes throughout and everything is solid(more on this later). The interior was ripped out while on Corona shutdown. It had the classic blue asto-turf carpet and champagne fur headliner. All original and in decent shape for being 40+ years old, but it had to go. The interior layout is adequate for my family so I saved the MDO sign board furniture(?) to use as templates.

After my last boat(Bayliner Liberty w/AQ140A/280 Drive) I knew I wanted to go with an outboard on a bracket. I went into this wanting to do the conversion. I have the Suzuki 225 or 250 on an Armstrong swimstep style bracket in mind. The bracket will be fabricated by me.

Ok. Not having much luck getting the pics to show up from my phone. These links will have to do for now. This is the original add from back in the day for the flybridge version.

That gives some idea to the layout.
Some interior pics before right after I got her home:

I did a quick layout for the bracket and found the mounting bolts across the top would be below the floor. This gave me an excuse to lower the deck and get rid of first step from the deck onto the frame of the sliding door; a poor design in my opinion.

Here are some shots as I was tearing out the interior and pulling the Alaska bulkhead out:

This is where I started from this weekend

I got the rest of the junk out and the last bags of old headliner and carpet out. Lots of room to work now!
