My dad has a 1977 Johnson 35. The boat would not run well unless the choke was out. After reading posts on here we decided the carb needed to be rebuilt. I did so and the motor is running better, but still having the same problem. As soon as we put the choke in the engine wants to slow and almost stall. Did something go wrong in the rebuild, or could it be a different problem. Oh, and is there supposed to be some sort of filter in the airbox or no? Thanks for any suggestions.

Did you adjust the slow speed jets after the rebuild ( in the water and in gear)?

I set them to what it said on the airbox 1 1/4 or 1/2. Can't remember. I was just noticing some posts a while ago about how to further adjust them. I will look for those again and try to fine tune it. We are going out tomorrow. Thanks
