1977 merc 500 no spark

I have a (I beleive)1977 50hp el motor that i just bought and can not seem to get any spark i have power on right side of black box but it does not seem to go to the left side (turns over great)<br />ser number is canadian 7089293

That is right, You really have to get a manual. But to test the switch bax you will also need a mutimeter with a DVA.<br />Without the DVA you can eliminate the easy problems.<br />If you have a kill switch, make sure it is in the run postion. <br />Disconnect your wires at the spark plugs.<br />Check for spark.<br />Check your wiring for brittle wires, broken wires, and cracked insulation.<br />On the switch box there will be a salmon colored wire or an orange wire. Disconnect this wire and see if you get spark. <br />Let us know what happens.
