i have changed the switch box the disturbitor and the wiring harness and still have no spark. The motor will turn but not fire does anyone have any idea what i could have forgot. The motor was running great until it took on some water on a rough day on the lake and stalled out. Also i dried out the carbs spark plugs and changed the plugs. It was a key turn ignition and now wont fire.

ANY IDEAS ON WHAT I COULD BE OVER LOOKING

with the key in the on position there should be 12 volts at the red and white wires could also be your mercury switch in the motor(made so when the motor is tilted up will not run) you can bypass it.

I didn't check the spark in mine but it was spinning and spinning and not starting. I had replaced everyting. The wiring harness inside the motor was smoking. Changed the new starter silinoid with the old one and it fired right up. Seemed like it was back feeding electricity through the ground. A manual and start the trouble shooting will save time and money though.

do you have a copy of the troubleshooting manuel part. I do not have a manual for the motor as the boat was a gift from my grandfather when he passed five years ago the boat at the start of the season was running great until a rough day on the lake and it stalled out that was friday, now it wont fire at all i ahve spark going to all six cyc but still wont fire the fuel is running right still not understanding what to do. want to try a few more things until i pull it out and take it to the shop

There is an ignition troubleshooting procedure on the CDIElectronics.com web site. Look for the procedure entitled "Battery-powered CDI Distributor Ignition". Of course if you have good spark to the plugs, that procedure will not help as you have other problems.

How wet did the carbs get?

Water in the float bowls will block the fuel flow, no fuel to the cyls, no joy.

Clean the carbs.
