I have a 1977 Penn Yan Imperial 19'. I am rebuilding it from the bottom up just put in the new foam and deck. I need the Dye cast Pen Yann name that went on the outside and the small one that went next to the cabin door, I also need the bimini top. Can you tell me what the stain color was they used on the cabin door?
I'd like originals please.

Re: 1977 Penn Yan needs parts

Welcome to iboats!

Lotsa luck finding original parts!! Mark42 can provide information on how to make the cast emblem. He made some for his MFG and did a beautiful job casting them. http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=388224

Bimini tops are not brand specific and you can purchase them in the iboats store http://www.iboats.com/Boat-Parts-Accessories/dm/

As far as the stain color....... is it teak? Could it just be oiled teak or marine varnished wood that has aged?

Thanks Bob-
Thinking about putting in a bench seat along both sides instead of the back to back ones it came with. Do you suggest making them or buying maybe a pontoon seat?

Re: 1977 Penn Yan needs parts

So.... I guess the boat does not need much except the interior.

Yes you can make the bench however, after the time invested and the cushions and covering (not to mention the headaches).....it may be cheaper to go pontoon seating.

The BIGGEST obstacle is size. If you purchase a bench it has special shipping due to size. I would recommend ebay or CL depending on where you are located (hmmm not stated in your profile).... you might be able to pick up a used seat from a pontoon.

BTW based on other Penn Yan boats we have seen....... how are the stringer's, transom, and overall condition?

Re: 1977 Penn Yan needs parts

I live in NJ. Your right about needing everything. Already replaced the floation foam, deck, cabin door along with the wood on either sides. Spoke to a guy in NY and he said to use what they used at Penn Yan...Marine grad plywood. Not cheap I might add. The stringers and the transom look great even after dad swamped it 2 times before we took it over, so you could say we just got a hull of a boat :)
All electrial needs updating, most of the steering wire was badly frayed, don't know how he could still steer. This is our 3rd yr on this thing. We made the side pockets by steaming the wood to bend it to size, our gas grill took the hit on that one. Maybe by July it should be in the water, fingers crossed!
