You have the older cable setup. It changed in 1979. New replacement older style cables are sold without any of the connecting end parts. You must transfer them from your old cables. If you look at the end parts you will probably see tiny set screws in the small stainless barrels on the plastic ends. There should be two, opposite each other on each end piece. They pinch (actually crimp) the cable to hold the end in place. I'd probably try to get the old ends onto the new cables in about the same position as they were on the old cables-to minimize your final cable adjustments. It's actually not as complicated at it may seem.

Most of the casing guides had opposing set crews that required an allen wrench.

Be very careful to follow your service manual's instructions because it's very easy to cut the cable if you overtighten the screws.

1978 cables have separate ends that must be transferred. 1979-up cables have permanently attached ends. They are not interchangeable and must match the control box.

Yeah, be nice if it was by the BOOK, The Jerry Rigging continues. The previous owner used a 79 and newer cable, thinking they took parts of a 79 scraped motor
