A new Battery doesn't mean much, if the wiring/connections are corroded. Will it crank if you connect the Starter directly to the Battery?(don't to the final connection at the Battery. It might explode

Make sure drive is in neutral. If it's in forward or reverse, starter won't engage.

This rules out issues with the solenoid or the various connections. To take it a step further, use jumper cables attached to your truck like you would to jump another vehicle. Hook the red cable to the post on the starter, and the black (neg.) cable to the starter mount. It will likely spark, which is the reason for Jimmbo's cautionary note.

If the starter spins the flywheel normally, check and polish all connections at the solenoid and the boat battery. If still nothing, the solenoid likely needs to be replaced with another outboard solenoid.

im not sure whats going on with this site but im having trouble posting and seeing posts... but ill try here is a video of the motor trying to start. also there is a black box above the carb. that seems to be leaking out gas....i may have pumped to much gas in initially that may be the cause? suggestions?

also after trying to start the engine the battery died after a while...(new battery) i charged it and tested the battery. its still good but now the engine wont crank again. here is a link to videos. https://www.facebook.com/michael.jo...f_id=1591396289940940&notif_t=video_processed

Stick that thing in a plastic trash can filled with water. You need to see water coming out of the ports on the back of the leg while cranking. If not, you likely need a new impeller. You need to mix 2-cycle oil with the gas -- about 3 oz. per gallon (50:1 ratio). Your choke solenoid won't work with a split in the rubber diaphragm. Use the manual choke. Use the hand primer just enough to initially fill the carb bowl. It doesn't have to be rock hard.

Idle or fast idle only in the driveway.

I have never had to crank any engine enough fill the water passages and block with enough water to have it discharge thru the idle Relief or Tel-Tale. It usually took about 5 -10 seconds of the Engine running before water was discharged
