1978 50hp Mercury carb adjustments

I have a 1978 50hp mercury that will not idle in gear and dies when I turn the throttle. This is a 4 cyl. with dual carbs. I do not have a manual and do not know how to adjust the carbs.

welcome aboard,<br />not every motor is the same, but 2-3 turns out<br />from "lightly" seated is about avg. better to<br />be a little rich than lean always!<br />a manual is worth it's weight in gold! if resources<br />are limited, check local main library branch.<br />good luck,<br />M.Y.
