1978 700 Merc Shaft Stiff

No not mine. I grab the merc prop0 in neutral and itm turns very stiffly. Now it hasnt been run for years but does fire and run but shafts stiff Whaddyah think, Thanx Mike New Member

If the unit was stored with out gearlube in it it may have rusted the bearings

I ran it in the friveway with e\water muffs on it. I put it in top gear reverse and forwards. I also checked the oil in gearcase new no water so perhaps previous owner didnt leave oil in. I notice now its just like new and sopins freely. Im just amazed someone would store without oil..
