1978 9.9 dies at ingear-idle after 4 or 5 minutes

My 78 9.9 merc trolls perfectly but after 4 or 5 minutes it just stops. It restarts without throttle or choke adjustment and continures to run for another 4 or 5 minutes and dies.. any ideas what I should look for..Could this be a fuel pump issue it seems like a few times I have felt bulb and it wasn't hard after the motor died.

Its normal for the primer bulb to get softer while the motor is running. Check your fuel tank vent to be sure its not partially clogged or closed.

Will it continue to run if you pump the bulb while its running?<br />Eric
