I have tried doing compression check, its fine, I have checked all grounds with olm's meter-fine. i'm beginning to think it might be the stator if so how do you go about checking this? If anyone has any ideas on what else could be the problem please let me know. when I took it out on the water it starts every time. you can put it in neutral and rev the engine up and it sounds like it would sail across the water in a rage, but as soon as you put it in gear it starts missing and slowly starts moving and will only get up to 10-15 miles an hour full throttle. please if anyone has any suggestions let me know you can also email me at: marlin69@mrtc.com

thanks so much!

Change the top pack for the bottom pack. Then if you still have no spark then buy the Force manual and do the stator test.Jerry

Jerry is 100% correct, but you might be able to find out immediately.

If you have an electrical problem, FIRST make a complete electrical diagram with wires, parts, colors, wires grounded, and wires at 12V.

Remove all connectors from the stator. Measure the resistance (ohms) through each of the coil-sets on the stator. There are usually 3 coil-sets, 1 for battery recharge, and 2 for the Spark plug CD (to Power Packs). (Mine reads 1000 ohms across the Battery recharge coils, 3000 across the CD (to Power Pack) coils.) Right now don't worry about the number. But if the resistance (ohms) is infinity (open circuit) one of your coils is bad.

If you fail this simple test, take the flywheel off and the stator off, then look at the stator visually. You will probably see where the bad coil has burned or cooked the insullation off the coils.

If everything checks out, you can always buy the manual and see what the exact numbers are suppose to be.

Here's step by step procedure...

Check electrical. Remove ALL spark plug wires and test for spark. Use a good set of rubber gloves and place a Phillips screwdriver in one of the spark plug wire connectors. Crank the engine just long enough to see if the Phillips screwdriver makes a spark against the spark plug.

With a good electrical diagram, start swapping parts. Swap spark plugs first. Retest. If all Spark plugs are good, swap Coils, and retest. If all coils are good, swap Power packs. If all power packs are good, you can try swapping stator wires or trigger wires. Sometimes you cannot tell if the stator or trigger is bad, unless you remove the parts and measure them electrically.
