1978 evinrude 85

i have a 1978 evinrude 85 hp model number 85899c it runs good at low speed but wont plane out acts like it loses power at full throttle i think my jets in my carb bowl have got out of wack not sure how to set them proplerly thanks for any advice

I do not believe there are any adjustable jets on those carburetors.-------Start with posting the compression test numbers.

i did put a bowl off of johnson 110 on it and it picks up and runs fine at high speed im just worried about long term damage i am just wondering how far the screw those jets in cause i took them out to clean them and one was loose

Carburetor jets are screwed in until snug.----They are NOT adjustable !
