Before my dad passed, he wanted me to have his 1978 Sylvan Sea Master. He bought it new, with a 78' Evinrude 85hp outboard. I've given the boat and motor a thorough once-over and a new (original) paint job and everything looks great. The motor has great and equal compression in all four cylinders and runs like a champ. My dad was a great tinkerer and did an excellent job of taking care of the engine. My issue is that the control unit's tilt/trim buttons are sticking and I'd love to find a spare control unit for when the original dies. Does anyone have one or an idea where I could find one? Can a different control unit replace the original? Any help would be appreciated. I plan on handing the boat down to my boys, when it's time.
