Hello! Thanks for checking out my post, first time to post on the forum. Recently I bought my first bass boat. I unfortunately bought the boat without doing too much research, it was listed as a 1989, and with its condition I believed it. None the less I own the boat now and still happy to have it. Overall the boat is in good shape in my opinion, not too many scratches and nothing deep at all. I’ve takin the boat out and it runs great and floats no problem. I’m really just wanting to fix the look of it. Starting with the inside, the floor is all super solid except for one small spot about 4 inch in diameter in front of the passenger seat. The wood extends below the fiberglass box that the seats are screwed into. It doesn’t seem the wood is fiberglassed in. My main concern is if I need to fix this by replacing it or just a patch of some sort. If I do need to replace the floor would I have to take the top of the boat off? Also seeing if anyone has any experience with these boats, I can’t find very much information on them. If you need any pictures I can take them. Any help or any general advice is greatly appreciate, thank you!

Welcome to the forums. My uncle has a 89 hydro sport that the floor needs replacement and from looking at his its looks like the floor goes on the stringers and the hull and then the cap is placed on top of the floor. Can you get some pictures of the damaged area?

remove rub rail then remove all the screws and fasteners sometimes rivets, then lift the top off the bottom and then you can get to everything, also of course engine and anything else that might impede removal needs removing and that's just the short explanation, make sure boat is properly supported so it dont twist or bow while doing repairs, while you have cap off flip that and dig out all the bad wood from that as well and replace and you will have a solid boat!

Here is another 2 photos of the floor, thank you for the reply’s. So based off what I’m reading, taking the cap off is the only way? I really wanted to be able to avoid that, is there any way I can cut out part of the wood, and be able to fix any problems through the hole I cut?
