hi all ... after replacing the cdi box and checking the merc switch i replaced a stator to get my engine to fire after it let me down earlier this year . I had it running on 3 cylinders for a short period of time and found a bad coil , replaced it and the boat ran great until last weekend ( about 3 months after the new stator ) the boat started and i went to take off and it stalled and wouldn't start again - no fire - when i had the stator go bad last time it did the exact same thing so i am assuming the stator again - my question is what could be burning out the stator , i have heard a bad cdi could but i replaced that before the last stator to trouble shoot so it is 3 months used as well. Could running it on 3 cylinders with a bad coil hurt the stator? any thoughts would be appreciated . thanks
