The float is stuck or the needle seat has garbage on it and is preventing it from sealing. It'll need to come off and get cleaned. You may as well do them all while you are there. Sometimes you can tap on the bowl with a screwdriver or the like to jar the float free but that is a band-aid fix. Get it done right and it'll be a lot better off.

UFM82

As stated- it all depends on your aptitude. I could do it in under an hour- you may not know the difference between a fuel bowl and a cereal bowl. LOL I don't know what you can do.

#1- Have a manual handy for reference. Take a few pictures or even sketch the arrangement before disassembly. You can tag hoses and/or linkages as you remove them. I wouldn't think that it is too horribly compiplicated- cowling, air horn, linkage, fuel lines, etc. However, space is tight and some "special tools" may be required.

#2- Take it slow and be deliberate- try to remember where stuff comes off. Call your parts guy with a model # and a serial # to see if parts are available or if he will need to order them for you. You may forget things by the time an order comes in.

#3- Do it in a clean, well-lit and unclutteres area- I hate it when I lose a special screw or bolt and can't use something handy. Lay out the parts you remove in an orderly fashion to help put them back on.

#4- Call a shop and see if they will do it. Most won't work on older outboards so that may not be an option. You'll need to scope it out in your area.

#5- Ask here- lots of guys here can help. There is an incredible amount of knowledge floating around on this site. Take advantage of it.

UFM82
