1978 OMC 800 Shift Plunger or shift rod

I have a 1978 omc 800 and im looking for the shift plunger part# 981616. Its the one with the detent balls that go inside of it. Seems mine has broken on the very backside. Do you know how i can upgrade to the mechanical without replace the whole lower unit?

That's an NLA part. You may have to do some lookin' around for a complete lower to snatch it outta'. In order to go full mechanical you'd have to replace the lower.
