Hello,

I am new to boating and just picked up my first boat this fall. Its a 1978 Slickcraft sx176 and had a omc 302 175 hp motor in it that was not winterized properly and was seized up. I replaced the 302 with a 235 hp omc 351. It has a omc stringer outdrive. Im running 5500 rpm at wot and running about 48 mph on a gps. i would like to get my wot rpm to around 4500, the problem is I cant read the casting numbers on my prop to see what pitch it is. What pitch prop would you guys recommend for my boat? Also where can I find props for this old stringer? Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!!

It is a 4" dia. prop and there is no way to read it. The prop is all dinged up where it says the pitch the only thing I can tell is that its a michigan wheel prop.

find a local prop shop that will let you test a few props with promise to buy when you find the right one. I would start with a 23 pitch.

A prop shop can measure it for you. 1" pitch change is about about 200 rpm
You need to increase about 5".
