I have a johnson 235 crossflow 1978 that lost compression on number 6. I am replacing the powerhead with a 150 used powerhead due to the fact that 235 was too much power on my 73 19-0 aquasport center consloe. The 235 was topped out at 5100 rpm at about 62 mph on flat water. I need the best prop to start with. I also would like to know what max rpm am I looking for? The 235 had a 14 1/4 22 stainless on it I have a 14 1/4 19 to try but will buy whatever I need to not carbon up my 150 Thanks in advance

A 150 will not fit a 235 mid section unless you change the adaptor plate, tuner and inner exhaust can.

Both those crossflows should be set up to 5800 rpm with an average load.

Recheck your tach setting because the speed and prop selection is about right for that combo but the rpm's would have to be higher to get the speed.

Good luck!

Adaptor plate 323553
Plate 322313
Megaphone 320870
The inner upper exhaust housing is the same.

The cost of the parts is a concern but the old parts may not come out easily if its a saltwater motor. Dont spend any money until you see if your 235 parts come out.
