1979 115hp Evinrude no spark

Please help guys I just bought this motor the person I bought it from said it runs great.The motor has sat for a few months it cranks over fine but no spark at plugs.

First try following:<br /><br />Disassemble clean and assemble all connectors TEST.<br /><br />Examine all grounds from power pack ( black ignition box ) TEST<br /><br />Try to disconnect kill wire at the connecter from power pack - carefull it does not touch ground. TEST<br /><br />Try to cranck engine - afterwards - within 30 secs mesure if there is a powerload on kill wire ( carefull 300-400V )TEST<br /><br />No power at all - connections, charger coil or power pack bad - mesure output in connecter to power pack, and you will know.<br /><br />Power in kill wire/no spark = probably bad trigger coil.<br />Let us know the reply.

I checked all connections good,then I disconected the blk/yellow wire at the powerpak cranked it over still no spark I check for voltage in the wire it had 350v.

Sounds like bad trigger coil or connections from trigger coil. See post of 27 january 2002 NO SPARK 25HP Evinrude 84, 3 pages back in threads.<br /><br />Sounds like exactly same problem - try to do the test.

also check any wires to the coils. I had one broken under the rubber end protector and it drove me crazy.

I had some different advice from another site he said to take out the plugs and disconnect the main battery connection from the motor then crank the motor over at the selinoid.I did that and got a very good spark that could it be a bad selinoid or just a bad kill switch connection I only got spark with blk\yellow wire disconnect at the powerpak.Thanks Guys

Sounds strange to me - that was point two in test - cranck with kill wire disconnected.<br /><br />Sounds as you have had a bad connection or shortcircuit to kill wire somewhere. Take it from there.
