I recently purchased the boat and motor at an auction. I have had it out three times since then and once I figured out what position the control levers have to be in, it started and ran great. That is until today the third time out. I took it out, cranked it over and after a few seconds it fired and idled great. I ran it slow for a few minutes while I eased into the river channel and then opened it up. It ran splendid for about 3 or 4 minutes and then just cut out. It kind of gradually but fairly quickly slowed down and then died. I tried to restart it and the first try, it almost restarted but then after that nothing. Since I recently bought the boat and motor, I am unfamiliar with and may very well be doing something wrong but since I wasn't messing with any controls when it cut out, I dont know where to start. The controls are Mercury controls with a lever to the right that controls the speed when idling and has to be all the way forward for the engine to start. It then gets pushed all the way back and down for the motor do go much faster than idle. The left lever is the shifting lever and also controls the throttle at higher speeds. At least that is what I can figure out. Does anyone have any ideas for me? Let me know if there is more information that would help in figuring the problem out. thanks.<br />Bruce
