should this amount of water concern me coming from the LE .. the LE is tight the water is just coming out of a small gap I assume ..also if you notice there is a hole at the very back that water is shooting from ...
just went out and confirmed the bolts are tight .. question- can I loosen the bolts slightly and use some gasket maker then tighten them back up without risking throwing any linkages outta wack?
The mating surfaces have been really beaten up or are severely corroded. A tight seal isn't needed, but leakage like you have will result is more metal erosion.
planning on picking up some gasket maker tonight.. question tho just in case i have to mess w the shift rod whats the right height. i saw this measurment on the forum (1977-81 - 50 and 55 manual start model in neutral (S) 16-23/32? (L) 21-23/32?) i have an electric start does that matter?
