1979 Johnson 115 v4 lower unit assembley

Underneath the splines on the drive shaft there is a groove, does anyone know if there is an o ring that goes into this groove. And if so will it change the height of the shift rod if not present? Thanks Guys for the heads up on this one. Peace

There should be an O ring but it can be used without one if the splines are properly greased or you're using a later model crank with the O ring in it. In any case it has nothing to do with the shift rod height.
