Re: 1979 Johnson 15hp - Carb Float Gap
I'm not really sure what you mean by float gap. But Vic is right as for float height. This is adjusted by the small metal tab near the pivot point of the float that acts as a stop.
However float height does not sound like it is your main problem. While you have the carb off be sure to clean out the jets. Not just blow them out with air. Remove the jets, soak in a carb cleaner & then blow it out to remove any debris. This might help, however you may have to remove the small aluminum passage plugs if air does not pass thru.
You could also have a restriction or air leak anywhere in the fuel system from the tank to the fuel pump.
Your spark plugs could also be carboned up. There are numerous things that could be your problem & without further explainations of your actual problem or what you have already done to cure it we are all just guessing.
Is this something that has just started to happen? Is the motor new to you & you have no history on it?
