I recently picked up a 1971 Larson Tri Hull with a 1979 Johnson 85 hp. Engine seems to run good, but the powered trim does not seem to work. I hear the motor...just doesnt go up or down. I manually lifted the motor after releasing the hydraulic screw on the side and noticed some oil (appears to be clear hydraulic oil) around the top of the rod and the port that it comes out of to lift (or lower) the motor. The port seems to have what I believe is a screwable top with four holes in it. Is there a special wrench to use to get this cover/nut off? Also, could there be any other source of where this oil is coming from. I am suspecting a trim reservoir leak and want to replace the rings that I believe are inside the port...Thanks in advance for any help and guidance to get the trim working.
