Good evening, I have a 1979 35hp Johnson model number 35EL79A. I have chased down what I think are all the problems with the wiring except one. This motor was worked on by prior owner(s) and the color coding does not match up with diagram that I downloaded from this forum (photoid=10009449). The motor starts fine, runs fine, electronic choke works, but... it does not turn off when I turn the key to the off position and I don't know what that connection shouldbe, I choke it and the motor stops. I think that this basic problem that I can't figure out is what is causing the following. When I attach the remote throttle cable and have the metal clip on the cable against the throttle controller on the engine the motor will not start. I have repeated this test several time and have used the remote just sitting on the pin to control the throttle, that is fine. It is only a problem when the metal clip is against the metal motor. I believe that it is a short somewhere and would like to know if anyone can direct me to a possible solution for killing the engine correctly which I believe will likely take care of the remote attachment problem.
Thanks,
Lenny
