1979 merc power tilt trim problems

just bought my first boat it has a 1979 mercury 80 horse motor. the small hoses to the cylinders were leaking so i replaced them and now the trim tilt works only when it feels like it do i need to bleed air out or adjust something please help i would like to take her out this weekend

Hello tat, Is the motor running when it stops pushing or pulling the ram.If not check your contacts.

ya the motor is running. is it possible to airlock the system?

With motor up open fill cap add fluid, lower then raise, open fill cap add fluid. repeat until fluid level stays up.<br />Hope this helps.
