Hi all, it's been a while since I have had to post here about a boat.. I guess that means everything has been going well.. ? I have a problem with a current project. 1979 Mercruiser 165hp. I had to change the lower unit as the old hit a rock. I have another boat for parts and swapped the lower unit off. I noticed first off that the trim actuators that are on each side of the outdrive seemed to be bad. I removed one and it did not have the innerds so I swapped off the parts boat as it had new ones (the right side if you are looking at the motor from the back) the left hand one seemed fine. I tried to work the tilt and trim but only get clicking at the solenoid. When I got down to inspect I noticed that there are 2 wires with corresponding colors as the one actuator that I replaced.. so this one is completely not hooked up. I don't have a wiring diagram so I was hoping someone could quickly tell me where those actuators hook up to within the boat. I assume they hook to the 2 smaller leads on the solenoid.. but this is a left field guess and I don't want to fry anything. Thanks in advance.

go to the adults only sticky at the top of the i/o forum. then look at #9. if memory serves me, ya'll want #3 and 4. confirm s/m by s/n.

in the book you'll find all the wiring diagrams and hydrolic trim circuits. + trouble shooting guides...
