Hello, I am new to the forum and it seems to be a very valuable resource!

I have the boat mentioned in the subject (30' twin inboards) and it has a frozen steering cable. I also have a 1984 MasterCraft (19' inboard) which I replaced the steering cable and helm on last year. The MasterCraft was a fairly easy job, but the big boat is a little daunting. Will the job be similar or will it be much harder on the Sea Ray? Any suggestions on where to purchase or identify the replacement parts I will need?

Thanks in advance, and look forward to being on the forum!

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,.... Even with twin motors, yer lookin' a one cable,...

It'll be 'bout the same exercise ya went through on yer other boat, but on a grander scale,...

More, 'n different panels to remove to get at everything,....

The length, should be printed on the cable sheath within a couple feet of one end or the other,....
For a helm, match as close as ya can, to what's there,....

I replaced mine with a hydraulic steering system on a 1989 30' SeaRay Weekender. An excellent upgrade. Later added autopilot. Much easier to steer. It wasn't that difficult to do.
