This 25 Johnson was running reliably when I fogged it and stored it 5 years ago. When I fired it up again (after cleaning the carb) it lit right off and sounded great for about 10 seconds, then it lost spark and died! When I tried to restart, it spun and spun with no fire, then it tried to start with a few backfires and violent kicks that will take the tiller right out of my hand. The next day, same thing -- 5-10 seconds of running before dying off.
It was getting dark by then, and when I tried to start, I noticed little sparks where the wires enter the potting material of the powerpack. Hard to say if the sparks were showing through the translucent potting compound or if it was actually on the outside of the PP.
I suspect the powerpack but have not done any diagnostics. I have a digital volt-ohm meter and test light only; what is the best way to determine what part(s) I need?
