1980 7.5 hp johnson

hello hope someone can help i am new to carbs i am used to fuel injection i received a 7.5 from a friends father and i am having problems with it i have replaced the fuel pump and it doesnt have many hours on the engine but has sat for a while so i take it out in the water and it will get up and go for like 30 seconds at full throttle then it seem to just slow down and down untill it is like at 1/8 speed and it willstill run smooth but there is a serious lack of power have cleaned out the carb but maybe i should get a rebuild kit thanks for the help

Hi Bigman,<br />Is the engine getting hot? Have you got the proper oil mix in the tank? If you're tank is vented,is the vent open?<br />Just a few thoughts

if the oil mix is to lean will it run slow or to rich will it run slow
