How do I replace the top (engine side) seal on the water tube of a 1980 7.5 hp? Is there an easy way to get to it or must I take off the entire powerhead? Thanks.
Removing the power head will be needed to replace that seal easy and be sure it is in correct. You will probley need the gaskets that are between the power head and midsection also.

Is this a big deal or is it just a matter of removing the nuts, pulling up the powerhead, replacing the seal and then putting the powerhead back in its original place?? Thanks
It might be best to remove the roll pin from the shifter arm and slide it up off the shaft or your gonna have trouble. I don,t know if you have the split type shift shaft or not but the easiest best way is to remove the roll pin with a hammer and nail cut off flat to pop the pin out. The waqter tube may or may not come up with the powerhead. either way your gonna have to remove the lower unit to get the powerhead back on without a major hastle
