1980 70hp johnson

Have been helping friend try and diagnos why motor wont fire,not getting any spark at all.Have looked through post's to see if i could find someone with similar problem but have not found anything.I think the powr pack has been replaced just a year or so ago,but motor has basically sat since then.Any ideas as to where to start?

unplug the big red harness plug. then jump the solenoid, this take the ignition and neutral switch out of the equation. you will have to manually choke it to kill the motor if it starts.

Get an OEM manual for it(not Seloc-Clymers or anything on CD) it will tell you exactly how to trouble shoot it to find the actual problem, otherwise you are just going to be throwing parts at it.

It will pay for itself the first time you use it.
