I'm trying to winterize my motor. Have read alot about it, but one thing seemed to escape me. When you put the ears on the inlets, does water or should water come out the exhaust ports?? Or does it only come out when the motor is running?
Also, how much water pressure should be used from the tap, alot-alittle? Dont think anyone has said this.
I've started the motor but it stalled right away. But because I've seen no water at the exhaust I didnt want to try again until I asked here.

Thanks ever so much.
Steve

Thanks to a neighbour that was driving by, he stopped to talk to me about the boat and answered my questions. Happy days, motor is now ready for winter. Boat rapped up in a cocoon of tarps.
But I think the motor has a bit of a build up of carbon, it seems to be oozing out down by the prop after I took the plugs out and gave the cylinders a healthy dose of Sea Foam. Fantastic stuff.
Lower end oil was clean, almost like new.

Turn the garden hose on all the way. When you see water coming out of the drain holes in the lower unit, start the engine. If your cooling system is in good shape on that engine, you can run it all day on the garden hose with no problem. When running, water will come out of the two idle relief ports just under the lower cowling at the top of the midsection and you should see a strong stream of water coming out of the telltale.

Not sure I'd store it with the SeaFoam in it because all of the oil got washed off of everything. Use a regular fogging oil for storage.
