Yesterday I brought home a 1980 Bucaneer sailboat to restore. It is going to need a ton of fiberglass work. The deck was distroyed when the mast came down. I will post some pictures as things go along. I am not sure if I will need to seperate the top and bottom.

Which Buccaneer is it? One of the smaller daysailers or a cabin boat? Bayliner or Chrysler?

Good- That's a decent boat... I thought you had a Bayliner Buccaneer, one of the UGLIEST and WORST SAILING boats ever built. If that were the case, I'd have advised you not to waste much time/money on her...

Well time has allowed me to get things started with the repairs. Its been about 6 months since i started this restore. Yesterday I jumped in with both feet and removed the bow section. Its official there is a lot of repair work that I need to do to the hull. I have some broken ribs that I will grind out and remove. I plan to add some seaflex ribs to help stiffen thing up.

Anyone have experience with the C- flex or fiberglass stiffeners? I have to replace the ones that are in there.

Well yesterday I made some good progress and removed all the old broken stiffeners I could get too from removing the Bow.

I bought a new Mikita 4.5 grinder 7 amp motor and it works great. The grinder I was using before was a huge 7" dewalt with a 7 pad and 36 grit paper. It remove the fiberglass great but it was a beast and gave my 51 year old back a work out.

The stiffeners that I removed was cardboard honeycomb with fiberglass over top. I am about to order my Fiberglass and stiffener replacements.

I am thinking of spending a bit extra and get the Mas resin I have used it before but there is some cheaper stuff out there and I am wondering what the difference is?
