1980 Evinrude 2 cylinders 60 HP no water coming out of relief hole that cools engine
I went out fishing at night and ran a ground a couple of times in the sand .
I usually see water coming out form the top relief hole hot water that cools the engine. Shoots out in a line. On the way back I ran into a shallow sand place and when I drifted out I started the
engine up again and didn't see any water coming out of this hole. I shut the engine off right away let cool about 15 minute it be from the sand clog up the water pump or maybe the sand clogged up the hole where the cooling water went through to cool the
engine. Or maybe the sand caused a water pump not to work by keeping water out. I trying to figure this out before I start taking this apart. I had to use my back up kicker engine to get me home So I don't think there is any overheat damage done to this engine.

First thing to do is put the water muffs on the engine. Fire it up ..and blow some compressed air through the tell tail.

If it fails to spray from there...remove the gearcase...and waterpump and have a look at it.

TMD
