I have an E35ELCSM that I rebuilt last year on my duck boat. Yesterday about 0400 I couldn't get the motor to let down with the tilt/run lever and had to reach under and manually move everything to get it down. The spring tension is gone off the lever and I can slide the shaft out of the hole.

Can someone please explain how this crazy thing works so I can fix it! I don't understand what the shaft is supposed to engage with and what is supposed to keep it in the bushing or how it functions underneath there! Usually if I understand how something works I can figure out what is wrong. I am not sure if the end of the shaft is broken off or if something has came loose under there.

There is nothing in my factory service manual about it.

HELP-It is DUCK SEASON!

Go to shop.evinrude.com and look up your motor. They have good parts break downs and maybe you'll find out what's missing.

Thanks. There was a little screw in the dog that clamps the two shafts together in the middle. It was well hidden by grease. Once you get it out the two shafts slide out each side. The end was broken off the shaft with the lever attached.
