i have a 1980 evinrude 50 it was my parts motor but I blew the head gasket on my working motor. So I cleaned it up good put all the new parts off of my previously good motor on it.
checked compression and it was good 140psi on both cylinders after warm up. But it will bog down and stall after running a few minutes. After it does it will crank right back up no choking needed.

Squirt some fuel in the carb throats when it wants to bog and see what happens.

I used a little gas on a rag didn’t really help. It acts like it’s taking a load and when it does it the exhaust seems to smoke more out of the top vents than normal when it happens I have a video but it won’t upload

Sounds like it is running on 1 cylinder.-----Not sure if I would leave the dock with that " Johnny Cash special "

Sorry I don't know what happened. The sound isn't working on my computer

Yeah it seems to be dropping a cylinder then picking it back up not sure why yet. I put fuel in the carbs didn’t really change anything. Swapped out the power pack too. And has new coils. Maybe tomorrow ill go ahead and swap the stator. The timing advance plate under the stator doesn’t move as smooth as it should. maybe I’ll get it fixed by accident. ( got the boat and 3 50hp engines and a box full of new parts for $125 and a old rifle so can’t be to mad about little problems.

just something quick to try, disconnect the rod between carbs, and make sure the cam roller isn't touching the cam, start engine, any change?

Got out this morning checked the carb linkage. Changed out the stator and fly wheel with new ones. The old one had some damage but not much. Fired it back up and it ran good for about 5 minutes then locked up and died. Starter would just barley turn it with hot battery. Pulled the plugs out and it will turn over no problem. Think maybe I have a clogged exhaust port?

??----Exhaust ports do not clog.----And certainly not instantly after running good for only 5 minutes.
