Hello, I have a 1980 6 gallon fuel tank and hose assy that I am having a problem with and not exactly sure of the part(s) that I will need. The problem I am having is the primer bulb wont stay firm on its own and ultimately the motor dies after a few minutes of running. Having said this if I push the hose connector that connects to the tank connnector on firmer then all is fine and the motor runs continuously without stalling allthough it seems im not getting the full top end speed like I did the first time I took it out for a run which suggests to me that maybe there is some form of an air leak around the connector area and perhaps there is a seal either missing or worn out or maybe an o ring? I have taken this tank out a couple of times this year , the first time the motor ran flawlessly but this second time only a couple of weeks later now having this problem. Is this a common problem with these tanks? I hope I have supplied enough information but if not ask away what you need to know.

Any and all help would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

it's not the tank. it's the line and primer bulb assembly. A O ring is in the connector to seal off the line. It's worn out. buy a new line, bulb and connectors.

Thanks freddyray21 was able to locate a pair of connectors from a local marine dealer that look to be of good quality, 8 bucks a piece so will go with those and give it a try next week last time fishing for the year :)

I do have another question to ask. On the tank itself there is no visible air vent. Is the venting in the connector on the tank and whats better keep the cap tight or loose when running the motor? I have tried it both ways and it doesnt seem to make a difference but would like to know whats best.
