1980 Evinrude 90 hp Non-VRO. I have cleaned the carbs, replaced fuel pump, Primer bulb, switched gas tanks. Compression 120 all cylinders.
Starts and revs fine with ears. Take it to the lake and put it under even a slight load and dies. This thing just falls on it's face. It acts like it's starving for fuel. Today however I discovered that if I rev it at a higher rpm for for several minutes I can put it in gear and will run great at any speed until I shut it off. Once I shut it off and let it cool for as little as 2-5 minutes than I have to rev the motor in neutral for several minutes and then it will run fine again. The key seems to be the engine temp like maybe the heat is expanding and sealing something. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks
